Better Bar Food

The Shack is a conveniently located just off of Keolu Dr. in Kailua.  This is an ideal spot to stop for a beer, lunch, or dinner.  We always enjoy the atmosphere which can be summarized by the name, "The Shack".  This indoor/outdoor surf shack like dining experience is extremely casual and service is always fast.  Don't let the name or the atmosphere fool you.  Although the menu is mostly comprised of "bar" food, it is the highest of quality.  From plate lunches to salads and the drinks to wash it all down, The Shack is sure to leave you satisfied. 

Whether you pan to belly up or grab a table, there is a wide selection of beers, wine, and mixed drinks for everyone.  Taps will include many local brews as well as your favorite domestics.  If you're in the mood for a cocktail, they have a list of house cocktails for anyone looking to try something new or an old favorite.  Beer will range in price from $5 for a bottled domestic up to around $8 for a craft draft.  There is also nonalcoholic beverages including The Shack Punch, Guave juice, as well as coke products.  

The appetizers are going to be your typical sports bar type plates.  They have many deep friend options including mozzarella sticks, poppers, potato skins and fries.  We tend to lean toward the wings.  Unlike many bars, The Shack serves them up whole wing style with their famous house sauce.  App pricing will range from $8 for a fry basket all the way up to $42 for the largest wing basket.

When it comes to picking your entree the only issue you may have is choosing from their very large selection.  You'll find local favorite plate lunches, sandwiches of all kinds, burgers, salads, steaks, pork chops, and hotdogs with all the fixings.  You can't go wrong with one of the plate lunches or one of their juicy burgers.  Pricing on entrees is extremely reasonable with most plates coming in right around $17.  Salads will be a few dollars cheaper and if you plan to order steak it will cost you $22.
