Our favorite Ko Olina Restaurant

When it comes to dinning options in Ko Olina, on Oahu's west side, they are pretty limited. That doesn't mean there aren't good ones out there. When we're in Ko Olina for lunch or dinner we stop at Monkeypod. Monkeypod has a good balance of up scale atmosphere while still remaining casual. They have indoor, outdoor, as well as 2nd level seating options. Live music starts most days at 12:30 am and continues into the evening. In our opinion the food here is good, not great. You'll get a solid meal every time but the atmosphere outshines the food. Parking here at Monkeypod, and everywhere else in Ko Olina for that matter, can be a bit of a challenge. The parking lot closest to Monkeypod is very small so try the one just across the street for additional parking.

Drinks

On the drinks side of the menu you'll find a diverse selection of wine, beer, and craft cocktails. On our last visit we went with a Monkeypod Mai Tai and a couple strawberry smoothies. Both the mai tai and the smoothies went down without complaints. The craft beer is served on tap and has a pretty extensive selection. Around 20 different beers ranging from blondes to stouts. They also have a sour and cider, so there should be something for even the pickiest beer drinker. Beer is going to range in price from $8 to $12. The wine selection is much larger. Pricing ranges a bit more as well but most glasses will cost between $13 and $16. The craft cocktails are all going to be around $16.

Appetizers

If you want an appetizer and like poke we'd recommend trying the poke tacos like we did on our last visit. If raw fish just isn't your thing they also have chicken wings, lomilomi, a couple fry options and more. App prices range from $10 for a basket of fries up to $20 for the lobster deviled eggs.

Entrees

On this lunch stop we ordered the saimin, tuna melt, and a burger. It didn't take long for us to get our food from the kitchen and when we did we were all satisfied with our choices. In addition to these choices you'll also find pizza, salad, tacos, steak and fish. Here's the price breakdown. Pizzas are right around $20, Salads around $14, all other entrees range from $17 to $20 other than the steak which is just over $50. Fish options are going to range greatly from $20 for fish tacos to $50 for fish and lobster pasta. There is also a kids menu. Saved room for dessert? They have a handful of different pies to choose from as well as La Gelateria Gelato & Sorbet. Pies are $11 and the Gelato is $8.
