Kona Brewing Co.

Chances are if you've heard of Kona Brewing, it's because you've enjoyed their Longboard Lager or Big Wave Golden Ale.  What many don't know is that Kona also has a restaurant and pub located on the east side of Honolulu in Hawaii Kai. This restaurant sits on the waters edge of the KoKo Bay Marina which provides breathtaking views of the blue marina and green mountain backdrop.  Here you will find all of Kona Brewing's beer on their 24 tap beer delivery system.  The menu at Kona features a wide range of pizzas, sandwiches, salads, as well as classic Hawaiian 'plate lunch' style dishes. 

The Beer

A stop at Kona Brewing wouldn't be complete without sampling some of their world famous beer.  The original brewery is located on the Big Island, in, you guessed it, Kona.  Kona Brewing Hawaii Kai always has a good selection of light, wheat, IPA's, ales, and porters.  These taps do rotate, but you will always find 10-20 Kona Brewing Beers on the menu.  Not sure what beer pairs with your selected entree?  No problem, Kona's menu provides recommended beer based on what food you've choose.  Don't miss out on happy hour!  Monday - Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Looking for something to munch on while enjoying your beer?  Or maybe you need an appetizer before the main course is ready?  Kona's pupu menu is just what your looking for.  This menu features a wide range of over 10 different items to choose from.  Some of our favorites are the pepperoni rolls, imu pork and rice, or Pele's fire wings.  They also have select appetizers on Happy Hours special.  Monday - Friday from 3 pm - 6 pm.  Pupu's will range in price from $7 up to $15.  Some fish items may be more expensive depending on the market price. 

When it's time for your main course, Kona has salads, sandwiches, and plates to choose from.  You may add your choice of chicken, shrimp, or fish to any salad.  Under the sandwich section of the menu, you will find tacos, dips, melts, and of course sandwiches.  The Pua'a Pork Tacos are one of our favorites and are frequently on Kona's happy hour menu.  They also have a selection of plate style lunches which feature a protein such as shoyu chicken or macadamia nut crusted fish.  These plates also come with a carb as well as greens.  These are typically rice or macaroni salad for the carb and bok choy.  Prices on these dishes range from $14 for a salad all the way up to $25 for the catch of the day.  

The main staple of the Kona menu is their hand-tossed pizzas.  They make their dough in house using their Longboard Island Lager.  All pizzas come in three sizes; small (10"), medium (12"), and large (14").  Our favorite pizza on the menu is the Hawaiian Luau, which comes with BBQ sauce, Kalua pork, mozzerella and cheddar cheese, and sweet onion, all topped with pineapple salsa.  Pizzas will range in price from $15 to $28 depending on size and kind of pizza.
