This trail is relatively easy as far as mountain bike trails go, but will definitely have your heart pumping!
On the Trail
This dirt trail runs along the Red River. There are a few different sections of trail. Combined they make up about 5 miles of riding. The trails are clearly marked with arrows to make sure you're heading in the right direction. It can be very slick in wet conditions. Use caution when approaching corners as wet conditions may cause your front tire to slide out. You'll have the best experience if you ride when the trails are dry. As you ride through the woods you'll find a few steep up hill sections, but the trail is flat for the most part. There are also a few obstacles to negotiate. If this is your first time, you may want to take it easy on these obstacles. Although the trail is considered "easy" as far as mountain bike trails go, don't expect it to be a walk in the park. Especially if you're new to mountain biking.
So which bike rental is right for you? For this trail we wouldn't recommend anything other than our Bintelli Quest electric mountain bike. The Bintelli Quest has a powerful 750 watt motor, LCD display, lightweight aluminum alloy frame, full front and rear suspension, and upgraded components from tire to tire, it’s loaded with everything you are looking for in an electric mountain bike! Just be sure to have a GoGo Rental staff member adjust the seat to the proper height before leaving. The seat can only be adjusted with an allen wrench, so unless you have one with you, you won't be able to do so on the trail. When it comes to transporting your rental bike, we always recommend adding a bike rack. These racks slide into the receiver hitch of your vehicle to make for quick and easy loading and unloading.
There are a few different parking lots at MB Johnson Park. The most convenient parking lot to access the mountain bike trail head is located on the far west side of park. As you enter the park, just keep driving straight past the playground until you see the boat landing sign.
A few things to keep in mind before hitting the trails. First, make sure you have water with you. Our bike rentals are all equipped with water bottle holders. Because this trail is located near a river bottom, mosquitoes and bugs do become a factor. Be sure to apply some spray before heading out. Best riding is always during dry conditions. If you can, plan your trip after at least 3 days of no rain. Lastly, take it easy on your first trip around the trail. There are several blind corners and obstacles. Speeding through one of these corners or obstacles may get you into a sticky situation.
