Camping on the Prairie

If you venture just a few miles east of Hankinson, North Dakota you'll find the Hankinson Hills Campground. There are 15 campsites available here. Of these 15 sites, 6 allow visitors to bring horses. Not only does Hankinson Hills offer some great primitive camping, but you'll also find many recreational opportunities in the Sheyenne National Grasslands that surround this camping area.

Things to Know

There is a $10 per night fee to stay at the campground. They do not accept reservations. Everything is on a first come first served basis. When you enter the grounds you can complete your camping pass and place your fee in the dropbox. There are no electric or water hookups on site. There is however a water pump that you may use for fresh water. You'll find a couple restrooms on site, but there is no running water. Each camping site has a picnic table and fire pit. There are also community fire pits and a sheltered picnic area.

Camping Recommendations

The camping spaces here are large enough for any of our RV or Travel Trailer rentals. We recommend going with one of travel trailers. Keep in mind, there are no power hookups so you'll need to bring a generator if you'd like to have power. You can add a generator to any of our rentals. If you'd like to travel a bit lighter, try one of our 4 or 7 person tents. Add a bike to your rental to take advantage of the near by trails. These trails are also great for hiking.
