Fort Ransom State Park

Category: Campgrounds

Rich with History

Fort Ransom State Park is located along the Sheyenne River Valley, just northwest of Lisbon, North Dakota.  This state park is rich in history, recreation, and views. Whether you'd like to hike along the 20 miles of trails, kayak down the Sheyenne River, or visit the Sunne Farm for a bit of history, Fort Ransom is sure to keep you entertained.

Something for Everyone

There are two historical sites located within the park; The Sunne Farm and The Bjone House. Each year the Sunne Farm is the location of Sodbuster Days.  During this event visitors can watch demonstrations of old time farming practices. If history isn't your thing then maybe you'd be interested in kayaking or fishing on the Sheyenne River? This is made easy by the kayak launching dock.  Still not interested? No one can resist the breath taking views from the high points around the park.  You can access a few by vehicle, but the best way to explore the park is by trail.  Head out on foot or rent a bike from us!  There are over 20 miles of trails to explore.

Camping Info

There are a handful of different camping options at the park. Choose from the 15 modern campsites, which have full water and electric hookups. There are also 5 modern group campsites that have the same hook ups as the modern sites, but have the ability to park multiple units in one site. They also offer primitive and equestrienne sites. Modern sites are $25/night and primitive sites are $17/night.  Reservations can be made online using the link provided below. Some of the park amenities include restrooms, showers, playground, visitors center and dump station.  Fort Ransom State Park is well suited for any of our motorhome or travel trailer rentals. We have included a few of our recommendations at the bottom of this page.
